Vitrual Exhibition

September 2011 - Today

In 2012 we were assigned to present a proposal for the change of the water park in Copa Copana into interactive training Center that includes also and a visual exhibition dedicated to Eleusinian Mysteries.

After a three month research and design the team of GouaStudio presented the following project.

The transmutation of a space 605 m2 with 9 m width and small height into multimedia education – Entertainment Theater is anyway very complex but very interesting project. The fact that it is dedicated to Eleusinian Mysteries makes it more attractive and with more growth prospects.

The difficulties that we had to deal with during the study of multimedia applications, that will apply in this space itself. The useful space – that remains after the necessary works and adjustments that will be done, in order to turn the building into a place to visit.- is small and low height , fact that the use  and mingling of different machinery (projection- sound- lighting) even more complex).

The representation part of Eleusinian Mysteries and its creative – free transfer in nowadays caused to create a totally magic space that could challenge and broaden the child and teenage perception for reality but adjusting to the current demands of child psychology and modern education.

Chasing the best possible result that comes of the maximum utilization and guided not only by the artistic result but also by the safety of the visitors and the longer-term usage of the machines, we came up with the following proposal.

The space, after the appropriate pre-work, in order to be insulated and sealed for any humidity, will be divided into 6 compartments-transition stages. These apartments will be soundproofed ensuring that the operation of each of them can be in the future independent. They will be separated with translucent materials so that these partitions can be used as projection screens, giving even the illusion of a third dimension.

The rest of the walls as well as the floor will be lined with a special sound-absorbing material that will also function as a projection screen, ensuring the possibility of projection in 3600 in both dimensions. The fixed equipment of the space will be complemented by special projection nets, which will also function as sound traps, where necessary, as well as various structural constructions that will improve the illusion and will help in the most effective sound-lighting control.

Each of them will be equipped with a Dolby Surround 7.3 active channels system (or 5.3 depending on its size) and with a system of mixed projections High Definitions video consisting of 12 with 8 multi/moving combining projectors of high resolution and high brightness. This equipment will be accompanied by:

  • A luminaire consisting of high-efficiency/low power LEDs and low efficiency high – watt moving headlights.

  • A set of electronic effects production units (their number depends on the size of the compartment and the content of the projections)

  • A set of mechanical effects production units (the number of which also depends on the size of the compartment and the content of the projections).

  • Various scenography constructions and interventions.

  • A number of projection mirrors to ensure better control of projection beams.

All the aforementioned equipment will be electronically controlled and will work as a whole, creating in the viewer the illusion that he is entering a magical but absolutely real space. The electronic central control ensures the best and most stable operation of the space as well as the smoother flow of the multimedia project that we carry out.

The computers that will control and execute the multimedia project will be divided into 3 control rooms that will be at the same time the main projection booth. The rooms are located between apartments where the project takes place, not only to provide the most complete control but also to maximize the sound-lighting separation of the apartments.

The same purpose is performed by the corridors that arise between the apartments, but at the same time ensuring a smother and more reliable transition from one virtual space to the next. In these corridors there will be projections as well as sound environments that will prepare the spectators for the world-stage that they will enter.
