Exibition 2/3

14th December 2009 - 10th January 2010

In August of 2009 my collaborator for years Maria Karathanou came to me with a proposal that fulfilled a desire of mine since 1999, when I was fist found in Serbia, in Novisad.

The opportunity   was too good to let go, so I found myself – one more time - in  one of the better and most demanding adventures of my professional life.

We decided to organize a transnational exhibition with 28 artists and zero money. Endless working hours. Agony, anxiety and tension to the fullest. The satisfaction, when it was finally over is indescribable

Med I Krv Project

July 2009. The first journey to Serbia. A festival, hosts within its framework, an art exhibition. The place, the way and the speech became common. Easily. The simplicity that sometimes overcome the limits of geography and the common goal, that can create unpredictable conditions. Special and subversive.

In order not to interrupt the communication passage and not to change the way things happen, when they have reason of existence and identity. Not to stop the freedom of speech, action, ideas.

So simply the idea for Med I Krv/ Exhibition 2 was born in Athens, 6 months after. So simply it was organized initially as an idea, from the people who participated in this. The intention was common. A moving exhibition all around the world. In every new place, local artists join the exhibition, giving in turn an artistic stigma, and creating a social – cultural background with great social and cultural value.

Older artistic works change, stay the same or transform. Artists remain, leave and participate again with the same or in a different way. Number of works fluctuates accordingly to the needs and the possibilities. What characterizes this moving action, is that it doesn’t necessarily follows the classical structure about artistic cooperation, but interactives, changes and is being adjusted constantly depending on the circumstances, the space, the time and the causation that visual works of art offer.

If we should propose a characterization, we could say it’s a working progress project, with components variable in structure, but at the same time, composed and strikt in terms of the goal it serves.

In the exhibition in Athens, will be hosted 24 visual artists, 4 music groups, an artistic action, and in total 50 works of art will be exhibited. Some of them were created earlier, some were re-created and some will be created during the exhibition.

Ideas change, ways change, reason and goals usually stay the same. What is important is not who will participate in Med I Krv/ Exhibition 3 or who will be the next  station (exhibition place) what is important is that this moving exhibition all around the world, is already in its second station, hoping that idea can turn to action. People that worked for it, possibly are aware of its dynamic.
